The World of the Celto‑Angles – or the Anglo‑Celts
(the order does not matter)
Islands filled with magic — the birthplace of a European sports team
For thousands of years we islanders have known how delicate and fragile the world is — a mosaic of many nations, each with its own vision of the universe around us.
And yet, for thousands of years, from the time of the Picts through the Celts, the Romans, the Angles, the Vikings, the Normans, the nations of the Commonwealth and the Europeans of the continent, we have kept trying to find a true compromise between these different visions — so that the magic of this world could freely rise to the surface of the planet.
We, the people of rain and wind, know how hard it is to be one.
We left the European Union not because we no longer felt part of the same history, or of the same civilisation —
but because we had no choice.
We had to answer the call of the islanders from another continent — the people of rain and wind.
When New Zealand held her referendum on a national flag, she gave us a clear signal.
We could not act otherwise.
So, to the inhabitants of continental Europe — do not hold this against us.
We still feel a strong bond with you, and that will never change.
That is why we chose to begin a family picnic between our families —
not to build walls, but to build bridges.
We believe deeply that our families will become one of the pillars of a future interstellar civilisation, spreading life through the universe.
But before that can happen, we must learn the language of unity, the language of what connects us, despite all that divides us.
That is why we took this step — so that our departure from the family of European nations would not leave only emptiness.
We have nothing more precious to offer to fill the void left by our leaving than a song of unity – a song of a European sports team.
Accept our gift, Europeans, as a sign of friendship, to fill the space we created by our departure.
Remember that we, the people of rain and wind, could not have acted otherwise.
We love you, and we will always feel part of Europe.
