Sometimes you have no choice. Sometimes fate or your own stupidity leads you to tragedy. However, how you approach failure defines you. You can nod. Acknowledge the reality imposed by others and agree with it or… not.
The ceremonial transfer of the insignia of power took place on 22 December 1990 at the Royal Castle in Warsaw. The last president of Poland in exile, Ryszard Kaczorowski (first from the right), presented them to the first president of the reborn Poland, Lech Wałęsa, accompanied by, among others, the Marshal of the Senate, Andrzej Stelmachowski (left).
