The Isle of Man was created during Fionn mac Cumhaill’s pursuit of his Scottish rival. In an attempt to stop him, Fionn mac Cumhaill picked up a huge piece of earth and threw it at his enemy. Unfortunately, he missed and the ground fell into the sea, creating a new island. The resulting hole was called Loch Neagh.

Fionn mac Cumhaill liked this island so much that he settled there. However, this did not please Buggane (a Manx giant) and led to a fight between them.
The battle took place in the southwestern part of the island. Near Kirk Christ Rushen. During this battle Fionn mac Cumhaill trampled channels with his feet, which flooded with water. In this way, creating the islands of Calf of Man and Kitterland. His opponent turned out to be stronger. He cut him terribly, so Fionn mac Cumhaill decided to escape to Ireland, knowing that his opponent could not walk on water.
Seeing this, Buggane pulled out the tooth and threw it at Fionn mac Cumhaill, hitting him in the back of the head and the tooth falling into the sea. This created Chicken Rock, which became a problem for passing ships.

The name of the island comes from the sea god Manannán, who lived in the southern part of the island on the highest hill. He was a powerful wizard and king. The first ruler of this island. It is to him that women raise their prayers for the safe return of their men when they go fishing.
