Wolf and Crane
A wolf once ate too greedily.
Still hungry, he swallowed a bone and it stuck fast in his throat.
In pain, he wandered through the forest, calling for someone who could help him, promising a rich reward.
A crane heard his cry and came forward.
With his long neck he reached deep into the wolf’s throat and pulled the bone free, saving the wolf’s life.
When he asked for the promised reward, the wolf snarled:
– Isn’t it enough that you put your head between a wolf’s teeth and you still alive? How dare you ask for more!
